Sinharaja forest is a topical low land rain forest or tropical wet evergreen forest. The forest at its lowest is 270m above the sea level, which has Rich treasure trove of nature with a great diversity of habitats. Last remaining virgin rainforest in Srilanaka and one of the few virgin forest left in the world. A national park and biodiversity hotspot in Sri Lanka, The Sinharaja rain forest is of global importance and has been named a World Biosphere Reserve as well as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Part of Sri Lanka's lowland rainforests, this reserve is a goldmine of endemic species including reptiles, birds, mammals, insects and trees.
